Director of Facilities Operations
About The Position
Stone & Browning Property Management is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities to lead maintenance, renovations, cleaning, and facilities operations across its growing portfolio of residential, commercial, and association properties. The role reports to the CEO and is part of the senior leadership team. It balances long-term facilities strategy with the operational demands of providing consistent, responsive, and cost-considered services. The Director will oversee complex facilities operations, including building systems, preventive maintenance, capital improvements, and regulatory compliance. The role also involves developing capable teams, strengthening operational systems, managing financial resources, and implementing improvements that support organizational growth. The Director’s work will influence service quality, resident experience, and the long-term value of managed assets. Stone & Browning Property Management is a Vermont-based company founded in 2014, with offices in Barre and South Burlington. It manages more than 200 properties comprising over 1,000 rental units. Requirements
- At least five years of experience in facilities management or property operations, including oversight of multi-site or complex properties.
- At least three years in a senior leadership or management role with responsibility for teams, budgets, and strategic planning.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, construction trades, preventive maintenance, renovations, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, capital improvement plans, vendor contracts, and operational performance measures.
- Ability to make sound, data-informed decisions.
- Ability to use CMMS and property management platforms to strengthen workflows, improve efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships with staff, residents, property owners, contractors, and senior leadership.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Construction, Property Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- RRP Lead-Safe certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with Northeast housing codes is preferred.
- Familiarity with AppFolio, Buildium, or Yardi is noted.
