About The Position

This position will oversee the management and operation of Georgetown University’s indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, events, and operations for 30 teams. This position will also be responsible for the management of all University events that are hosted in athletics facilities. This individual will coordinate efforts with coaches, support services, sports promotions, athletic communications, and University officials and Department administrators. Responsibilities will include notifying visiting teams, officials, and group representatives of Georgetown policies, procedures, event logistics, and facility requirements, submitting advances and reconciliations for all game day related expenses, hiring, training, scheduling and supervising game-day and event staff. This position will supervise a workforce comprised of assistant coaches and students who will serve as the staff for athletic and University events. This person is directly responsible for ensuring that the athletic contest is properly staffed and operated according to University, conference, and NCAA specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience directly related to athletic events.
  • General knowledge and understanding of Athletics events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decision and judgments.
  • Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Interest in, and enthusiasm for, sports.
  • Flexibility of schedule and availability on weekends.
  • Proficiency in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications.
  • Rules and regulations of sporting events.
  • Technical requirements of hosting athletic events, including scoreboards, sound systems, communication systems, game clocks and other event-related equipment.
