Columbia College Chicago is a private urban institution of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a(an) Director of Equity Issues & Title IX Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, the Title IX Coordinator oversees the College’s Student Sexual Misconduct Policy, Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy, and Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Policy. The Title IX Coordinator conducts training for the College community to promote awareness and understanding of the College’s policies and procedures. This position will manage and train direct report(s), volunteer staff and faculty who serve as Hearing Panelists. The Title IX Coordinator works closely with Human Resources, the Office of General Counsel, Title IX Investigators, Hearing Officers, Campus Safety and Security, and Student Affairs staff. In addition, the Title IX Coordinator serves as a member of the Equity Issues Office Student Organization. Flex work options available.

Requirements

  • Master’s in higher education, psychology, sociology, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibilities within higher education working with Title IX or related campus compliance efforts required.
  • Must have experience conducting interviews or investigations, supervising staff, revising policies, overseeing compliance efforts, developing, and delivering prevention education programs and training.
  • Must possess knowledge of federal and state laws related to unlawful discrimination and harassment, Section 504, Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, Title VII and related state laws pertaining to sex discrimination, sexual and gender-based harassment.
  • Ability to analyze evidence and documents to determine policy violations.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, Maxient, and Everfi.
  • Ability to take leadership for creating and implementing procedures and protocols for compliance, to multi-task, train and advise students and employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Manage case files of complaints to ensure files are in compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Oversee College wide training of students, faculty, and staff (on campus and online).
  • Provide updates and recommendations to senior leadership about Campus Climate and trends as it pertains to sexual harassment and anti-harassment and discrimination.
  • Oversee case management of Title IX and student sexual misconduct investigations, anti-harassment and discrimination allegations and provide interim remedies.
  • Oversee training of Title IX Investigator and Hearing Panelists.
  • Ensure that non-professional counselors and advocates are up-to-date on the College's policies.
  • Review and analyze all evidence and facilitate resolution of complaints and disputes of discrimination through mediation, negotiation as appropriate.
  • Supervise work of the Equity Issues Investigator. This includes planning, assigning, and reviewing work.
  • Oversee the College's Title IX Student Sexual Misconduct Policy, Title IX Sexual Harassment and Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Policy.
  • Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.
