About The Position

Laurel Heights Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking a full-time Director of Environment of Care or Director of Plant Operations. This role oversees Dietary, Housekeeping, and Maintenance, and also serves as the Safety Officer. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive residential treatment facility for children and adolescents with acute and autism spectrum disorders, addressing severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties, including co-occurring issues. The hospital provides a supportive therapeutic environment utilizing various therapeutic modalities and applied behavior analysis services. EOE.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of active experience as a Director in a hospital setting, preferably in Safety.
  • Experience in estimating maintenance and repair costs.
  • Experience in all phases of building maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiating experience.
  • Experience using total quality management (TQM) to lead the work of maintenance staff.
  • Safety management experience, including development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs.
  • Valid Georgia’s Driver License.
  • In the absence of a Bachelor's degree, must demonstrate ability to learn concepts and develop skills within a reasonable timeframe via the organization’s orientation and training program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility meets OSHA, CMS, and state health and safety standards, fire codes, and healthcare facility standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, identify hazards (e.g., fire, slips, falls, chemical exposure), and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate contractors and vendors for specialized work, renovations, or emergency repairs.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, laundry, and building systems.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the daily operation of the dietary department in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure that food and snacks are prepared from standardized recipes and served in the correct portion and temperature.
  • Maintain current diet cards and tray cards that reflect physician diet orders, resident preferences, allergies, and care plan interventions; or provide substitutes of comparable nutritive value and document accordingly.
  • Ensure that snacks and nourishments are prepared and delivered as ordered.
  • Enforce proper personal hygiene, handwashing, glove use, hair restraints, and employee health and illness-reporting requirements.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and departmental injuries to the COO.
  • Attend department head and facility meetings as scheduled.
  • Manage cleanliness, service, and product quality standards in guest rooms, public spaces, offices, and meeting areas.
  • Oversee and perform room and public area inspections to maintain high-quality standards and compliance.
