About The Position

The director of engineering develops, implements, and manages preventative maintenance as well as emergency programs for the operation. In addition, they are responsible for maintaining all equipment and physical structures and landscaping in compliance according to company standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect the asset, guests and employees, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction. As the Director of Engineering, you are the steward of that foundation—protecting our assets, empowering our curators, and ensuring every property operates at its highest potential.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate positively with fellow curators.
  • Ability to keep accurate accounts of all parts and equipment orders.
  • Strong project management skills/ability to create processes/keep deadlines.
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints, electrical diagrams, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of codes and specifications.
  • Ability to research and learn regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of general work safety practices.
  • Knowledge of the operation of power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage preventative and emergency maintenance programs.
  • Conduct routine property walks and detailed inspections of hotels facilities.
  • Oversee all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, structural, and landscaping systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and all local, state, and national codes.
  • Lead short- and long-term engineering division planning.
  • Monitor capital needs and assist with forecasting emergency and budgeted projects.
  • Manage work order systems with efficiency and clear prioritization.
  • Maintain inventory controls and order supplies in alignment with budget.
  • Serve as Project Manager for renovations, repairs, replacements, and capital improvements.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Assist with competitive bidding processes and vendor selection.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures for internal teams and outside partners.
  • Serve on the Company Safety Committee.
  • Enforce strict safety procedures across departments.
  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements and hazardous conditions.
  • Champion a culture where guest and curator safety is non-negotiable.
  • Implement company guidelines on historic preservation and asset stewardship.
  • Provide training and guidance to property leadership in engineering best practices.
  • Foster collaboration and positive communication among fellow curators.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.
