About The Position

The director is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring the elementary education and federal programs for the district. The director develops curriculum, provides staff development, submits state and federal reports.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with coursework in education administration, curriculum and instruction, and/or related field
• Demonstrated increasingly responsible technical, analytical, administrative, and supervisory experience
• Must possess a clear NC Educator’s License with administrative certification
• Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all facets of elementary education and federal programs (Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV)
• Thorough knowledge of prescribed School Board and district policies, rules, and procedures
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state policies, rules, regulations and procedures pertaining to the programs administered
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written formats in a clear concise manner
• Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software
• Ability to operate standard district records software
• Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on district needs
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, students, and the Chief Academic Officer
• Maintains a cooperative relationship with the principals, other school personnel, other related service agencies and parent

• The work regularly requires standing and walking around the classroom and school.
• It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.

• The work often requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights and rarely, the lifting of weights above 30 pounds.

• Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
• Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using office equipment.
• Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
• Must be able to communicate via telephone.

Responsibilities

• Provides effective leadership in developing comprehensive program plans and implementing/evaluating the planned programs
• Assists/prepares budgets, coordinates with other departments or agencies to assure maximum services, maintains records/reports/inventories in accordance with local/state/federal policies
• Shares information about programs with various groups, serves as liaison between the school system and other agencies and assists in the development of in-service staff development
• Assists in selection and placement of personnel, delegates and supervises staff responsibilities and assists in evaluating staff
• Serves as the Federal Programs administrator
• Provides direct support for Federal Programs budgets, plans, and implementation (Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV)
• Collaborates with Curriculum and Instruction Department to support school administrators, curriculum coaches, AIG teachers, and ESL teachers
• Performs other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by the supervisor
