About The Position

Family Life Academy Charter School (FLACS) is a nonprofit network of high-performing charter schools in the South Bronx. FLACS, together with the Latino Pastoral Action Center and parents, creates the conditions for self-empowerment for all its K-12 students to excel academically, take responsibility for their own learning, and affirm human values, today, in college, and beyond. FLACS is currently seeking dynamic educators who value collaboration, seek to work in an environment where all students are scholars and academic excellence is the norm, believe that young people can be leaders who can create positive change in their communities and that schools should be safe, warm, and caring environments, and desire to work in a place where their skills will be nurtured through an embedded professional development program. Under the supervision of the Deputy CEO, the Director of 6-12 ELA leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a high-quality, aligned ELA program across all network middle and high schools with a focus on literacy equity, rigor, and college and career readiness. The Director of 6-12 ELA partners with all school and network stakeholders by building a shared literacy belief across the network, leading the implementation of a high quality curriculum and assessment program, and engaging in continual professional growth of staff and self.
