About The Position

The Director of Digital Strategy & Content Integration leads AHIMA's omnichannel communications strategy, shaping a unified narrative that elevates the organization's brand, impact, and voice across the healthcare landscape. Partnering closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, this role drives integrated campaigns that support membership growth, product marketing, and revenue goals while overseeing content strategy, channel optimization, and cohesive storytelling across all platforms. This position manages AHIMA's web ecosystem to ensure a seamless, data‑informed user experience, collaborating with IT and product teams to modernize digital infrastructure and improve performance. They also oversee content creators and publishing channels to deliver industry‑leading content that builds audience engagement and organizational visibility. As a key leader in corporate storytelling, media relations, crisis communications, and executive positioning, the Director fosters innovation, leads high‑performing teams, and ensures AHIMA is recognized as the authoritative voice in global health information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years leading high‑performing, integrated communications or digital content teams with measurable results across omnichannel platforms.
  • Strong experience in website strategy, architecture, and CMS management (e.g., Optimizely/Episerver, WordPress, Squarespace).
  • Experience overseeing industry publications, publishing workflows, and sponsored/native content programs.
  • Strategic leader who can operate at both high level and hands‑on, overseeing development and quality of all organizational content.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics) and marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, ClickDimensions).
  • Knowledge of healthcare, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in healthcare communications and journalism.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, able to translate complex topics into clear, actionable insights.
  • Association experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AHIMA's omnichannel digital content strategy, including governance, integration, and platform optimization.
  • Oversee website strategy and modernization, using data to improve user experience, navigation, and content performance.
  • Integrate content across web, social, email, events, and publications to support membership, product marketing, and revenue growth.
  • Identify content gaps, manage the content lifecycle, and implement personalization for key audience segments.
  • Partner with IT and cross‑functional teams to enhance digital capabilities and support enterprise web initiatives across AHIMA and HCPro.
  • Oversee AHIMA publications, including Advances in Health Information Science and Practice (AHISP), the Journal of AHIMA, and industry content on AHIMA.org to strengthen reputation and readership.
  • Own the enterprise editorial strategy, guidelines, and calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to expand author participation, elevate publication quality, and position AHIMA as a thought leader in health information.
  • Ensure strong SEO performance and evolving content formats that meet user needs and drive engagement.
  • Write or edit content as needed, including articles, blogs, downloadable assets, and landing pages.
  • Steward AHIMA's digital brand, positioning, and value proposition across all audience segments.
  • Ensure brand consistency across channels and alignment with growth, awareness, and revenue objectives.
  • Strengthen brand presence through integrated digital and content strategies.
  • Lead and mentor a high‑performing, data‑driven team.
  • Manage budgets, optimize channel investments, and establish efficient processes and SOPs.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth‑oriented culture.
