About The Position

The Director of Development is responsible for maintaining and increasing grant funding, overseeing fundraising efforts, and representing the organization in the community. This role involves managing grants, developing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and supporting various agency events and appeals. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for the mission and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Grant writing and management experience is highly preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, but 5+ experience for the right candidate may substitute.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all grants at current or increased funding levels.
  • Ensure all grant requirements and deadlines are met for current grant funding.
  • Research, write, and apply for diverse new streams of grant funding including federal, state and local government; national, state and local foundations both public and private in nature.
  • Ensure other department heads follow all grant guidelines for each individual agreement; work with the department heads to prepare monthly, quarterly, periodic or annual reports as needed for each unique funding stream.
  • Work with grantors to make sure all fiscal, programmatic and other reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and assist the Volunteer & Development Manager on all agency fundraiser plans, ensuring financial objectives are met for each unique fundraising opportunity.
  • In conjunction with the executive team, responsible for raising the budgeted funding amount, as set by the Board of Directors, through grants, fundraising, and general development, to ensure seamless services for the agency (current agency budget: ~$1.5 million).
  • Secure donations from community donors, corporations and foundations, including building and tracking proposals and reports necessary for corporate giving.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, build a strong monthly giving campaign, as well as ensure a large base of annual individual donors.
  • Work within agency strategic plan to retain current funding sources and build new sources through outreach and development.
  • Supports the annual gala committee and works in conjunction with Board to build a successful event profiting in excess of $125,000 annually.
  • Work with Volunteer & Development Manager and external PR firm to build annual Holiday Appeal (November/December), and Annual Impact Report Appeal (June) each year.
  • Manage data inputs and thank you acknowledgements within Neon CRM.
  • Manage and maintain monthly newsletter and agency social media in conjunction with the Volunteer and Development Manager.
  • In conjunction with the Executive and Outreach Team, represent Mission House in the community at speaking engagements, social events and functions.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with agency donors, while soliciting new donors to the Mission House cause.
  • All other duties, as assigned by Executive Director.
