About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County is seeking a Director of Development to join their Resource Development team. This role is crucial for driving the organization's mission forward by managing major campaigns with optimism, enthusiasm, and poise. The ideal candidate is a high-energy storyteller, an organized planner, and someone who thrives on building community connections. The organization is dedicated to providing youth programming and support through four Clubhouses and four licensed care centers, emphasizing an environment where every team member's input is valued and respected.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, event management, or a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree, OR an equivalent combination of education and directly relatable experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including hands-on experience with Excel and fundraising/marketing tools like CRM, Bloomerang, PayBee, Stripe, Tapestry, and Mailchimp.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management, alongside the ability to analyze data and produce actionable reports.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire others.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance by date of hire (for offsite meetings and events).
  • Ability to work flexible hours/some evenings as events require.
  • A passion for our mission, a desire to learn new skills on the job, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute creative fundraising strategies and premier events within established budgets and timelines.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of donors, building deep, lasting relationships with supporters.
  • Act as a proud ambassador for BGCWC, representing the organization with grace and professionalism at in-person events and through compelling written communications.
  • Work seamlessly with internal teams to keep fundraising momentum high and track progression toward enterprise goals.
