Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is seeking an experienced Director of Dental to provide leadership and operational oversight for our Dental Department. Following a significant expansion of our Dental services, we’re looking for a collaborative, experienced leader who understands the unique demands of dental operations and knows how to bring together people, processes, patient access, quality, and performance to build a strong and effective department. In this role, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of the Dental Department while helping shape its long-term direction. You’ll work closely with dental professionals, organizational leadership, and departments across OKCIC to improve access to care, strengthen operations, develop staff, and ensure our patients continue to receive high-quality, patient-centered dental services. Requirements

Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values
Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in dental program management, dental administration, and dental director/leadership experience, with demonstrated knowledge of dental clinical operations and the delivery of dental services.
Experience leading dental teams and managing the day-to-day operations of a dental department or dental practice is required.
Candidates whose degree is not in a dental discipline must demonstrate substantial professional experience in a dental setting sufficient to demonstrate working knowledge of dental clinical workflows, terminology, equipment, infection prevention and control, dental regulatory and accreditation requirements, patient safety, and dental practice operations.
Experience with electronic dental record (EDR) systems, including Dentrix or comparable systems, is required.
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage departmental operations and resources, establish priorities, develop and implement operational goals, and support organizational strategic initiatives.
Experience with grant management, including program oversight, reporting, compliance, and/or performance monitoring, required.
Knowledge of applicable healthcare, dental, regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and patient safety standards required or strongly preferred.
Candidates possessing clinical licensure must maintain all licenses and credentials required to perform clinical duties within their scope of practice.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.
Experience within an I/T/U, FQHC, community health center, or other safety-net healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
Current professional dental licensure or certification (RDH, DDS, or DMD) is preferred but not required, provided the candidate demonstrates the required depth of dental operations and leadership experience.
Current CPR certification is preferred; if required based on assigned duties, candidates must obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

Provides administrative, operational, and clinical leadership for the Dental Department, including oversight of daily dental operations, staff performance, patient access, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities.
Collaborates with medical departments and organizational leadership to support integrated medical-dental care, interdisciplinary coordination, and continuity of patient services.
Ensures appropriate staffing levels, efficient scheduling, and maximized clinic capacity to support timely patient access, productivity, and high-quality dental care services.
Oversees onboarding, orientation, training, competency assessments, staff development, and ongoing performance support for dental department personnel.
Facilitates and ensures completion of peer reviews, competency assessments, departmental meetings, operational updates, and communication of organizational initiatives and clinic activities.
Ensures departmental compliance with applicable CDC, OSHA, the Joint Commission, ANSI, infection control, safety, and regulatory standards and oversees completion of required inspections, documentation, and operational duties.
Oversees departmental financial performance, budgeting activities, supply management, equipment maintenance, and operational resources to support fiscal responsibility and efficient department operations.
Coordinates outside referrals, specialty services, and continuity of care activities while supporting appropriate utilization of resources and financial stewardship.
Oversees preparation and submission of departmental reports, productivity data, GPRA tracking, operational metrics, and quality improvement initiatives.
Coordinates and supports departmental participation in community outreach activities, wellness events, educational programs, and organizational engagement initiatives.
Oversees equipment maintenance and repair coordination and ensures appropriate inventory management, stock rotation, supply availability, and minimization of expired materials and products.
Supports quality improvement activities, operational workflow optimization, patient safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within the Dental Department.
Provides clinical support or assists dental clinical staff as operational needs require when the individual possesses the appropriate licensure or credentials to perform such duties.
