About The Position

This is a leadership role within IT and is responsible for the successful delivery of IT programs spanning internal tooling, retail operations platforms, and enterprise data modernization. The candidate will own the full delivery lifecycle from requirements intake through QA sign-off and production go-live while embedding Agile maturity, QA engineering excellence, and structured BA practices across IT department. The ideal candidate is a delivery leader who thinks in systems, leads with data, and holds teams accountable through documented processes, not just verbal commitments. This role is a cornerstone of Miller Zell's IT transformation and carries a clear path and reports to CIO.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in IT delivery management, program management, or engineering leadership
  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent software delivery programs from requirements through production go-live
  • Deep expertise in Agile/Scrum delivery: sprint planning, backlog management, Jira administration, DoD/DoR, velocity tracking
  • Hands-on QA leadership experience: test strategy, defect lifecycle management, and sign-off processes
  • Experience managing onshore and offshore development teams across time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to build, document, and enforce delivery processes — playbooks, change control, RAID logs, version-controlled documentation
  • Proficiency with Jira, SharePoint, and collaborative delivery tooling
  • Excellent executive communication skills — ability to translate delivery complexity into clear, concise CIO-level reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dev, QA automation frameworks, particularly Playwright or Selenium
  • Familiarity with retail operations, enterprise data platforms.
  • PMP or equivalent Agile/delivery certification
  • Experience building or scaling a QA automation function from the ground up, basic programming skills and knowledge of react & c#.
  • Exposure to AI-powered delivery tools, agentic automation, or intelligent test generation platforms

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of all MZ project and product changes, ensuring on-time, on-scope, and quality outcomes across all active programs
  • Lead priority programs through UAT, sign-off, and production go-live within agreed Q1–Q4 timelines; drive subsequent programs to QA-ready state by Q4
  • Drive follow-on programs to their agreed delivery milestones by December 2026
  • Maintain scope creep rate across all programs while enforcing change control
  • Publish weekly workstream status reports and monthly executive summaries to the CIO and stakeholders
  • Produce quarterly delivery review reports covering velocity trends, defect patterns, scope changes, and program health
  • Establish and sustain a stable 2-week sprint cadence across all active programs with formal planning, review, and retrospective ceremonies
  • Champion Fibonacci-based story point estimation, Definition of Done, and Definition of Ready as non-negotiable standards across active delivery programs
  • Maintain Jira board hygiene, drive defect spillover rate at a minimum level
  • Serve as the organization's Agile coach — educating, mentoring, and holding the team accountable to delivery discipline
  • Build and lead a high-performing QA function
  • Own defect leakage targets, maintain defect detection efficiency
  • Drive QA automation & maintain automation pass rate
  • Publish sprint execution summary, open bug list, defect summary, and coverage reports at every sprint close
  • Partner with the Business Analyst to produce and maintain Gherkin-based acceptance criteria and functional requirement documentation across active delivery programs
  • Establish a requirements intake process
  • Drive requirements quality as a delivery gate
  • Author and maintain a Delivery Manager Playbook covering sprint process, escalation paths, change management, and QA handoff standards — version-controlled in SharePoint
  • Publish and maintain a Project. QA Playbook covering test case standards, defect management, automation guidelines, and UAT sign-off process
  • Maintain all project documentation, BRDs, sprint plans, retrospective actions, and sign-offs
  • Create and maintain a living RAID Log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
  • Establish and enforce change management: all scope, requirement, or delivery changes documented, impact-assessed, and approved before execution
  • Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional team spanning QA, BA, and delivery coordination functions
  • Conduct bi-weekly 1:1s with all direct reports; build individual development plans aligned to team and organizational growth
  • Partner with Security and Development to ensure cohesive program delivery
  • Foster a culture of accountability, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement across the delivery organization
