About The Position

Sunrise is one of the largest, private not-for-profit organizations in the country dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, supervision and direction to designated employees who support and assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the last 60 years, Sunrise has grown from serving 50 people in South Florida to over 1,400 across several states with over 2,500 employees, often assisting state agencies with deinstitutionalization efforts and integrating smaller companies into the Sunrise Group.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with all necessary endorsements and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required as this job entails direct care of adults receiving services. Employees are required to communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and others regarding medical care, supports, and services. This requirement includes the ability to effectively communicate in English including medical terminology.
  • Must report any instances of abuse, neglect, or exploitation that they are involved in or witness (as mandated reporters for Direct Support roles, which this position oversees).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a preferred focus in Human Service Field, Education, Recreational Activities
  • At least two years of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Helps create and maintain a positive, learning, supportive environment for all employees and those supported.
  • Ensure day service supervisors implement and document trainings, support and behavior programs as required by Individual Support Plans and regulatory agencies.
  • Assists supervisors with ensuring employee compliance of policies and procedures through monitoring and training.
  • Provides constructive feedback to employees through positive interactions, role modeling, and mentoring.
  • Implements and monitors budgets at the direction of the Area Director by providing accurate fiscal information and documentation of revenue and expenses.
  • Ensures each program submits timely and accurate billing.
  • Assists Day Program Supervisors with creating active schedules that include meaningful age-appropriate activities, community engagement, self-advocacy, health and wellness, social skills, activities of daily living, volunteerism and vocational training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
