About The Position

The Director of Customer and Channel Development is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, developing channel strategies and enhancing long-term customer relationships. This individual will lead members of the sales team including Trade Marketing, Category Management and Customer Operations. The key responsibilities will include developing and executing customer development strategies and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure alignment on key business objectives. The role requires a dynamic leader with a strong commercial mindset, deep customer insight, extensive category management understanding and a passion for building high-performing teams. Lead and mentor a team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field/experience; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership, preferably in CPG / FMCG industry
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving customer growth and retention strategies
  • Experience with CRM systems and data-driven decision-making
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership with ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects

Responsibilities

  • Work with VP of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth.
  • Lead, coach, and manage their team to drive performance and accountability.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and strategies.
  • Optimize trade spend and promotional ROI
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and new channels
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners.
  • Develop customer and channel segmentation strategies and personalized engagement plans.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to enhance customer experience to ensure their needs are met and exceeded to build loyalty.
  • Monitor sales KPIs and provide regular reporting and communication to senior leadership.
  • Forecast sales performance and manage all financial budgets effectively.
  • Identify and resolve performance gaps through training, tools, and process improvements.
  • Partner with Sales team, Operations, Finance, and Marketing to ensure seamless execution of all channel and sales initiatives.
  • Represent the voice of the customer in internal planning and decision-making
  • Drive innovation in customer engagement and sales enablement practices.
