About The Position

The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for supervising teaching and assistant teaching staff, mentoring new staff, developing professional development, and overseeing curriculum development. Duties & Responsibilities Teacher & Assistant Teacher Supervision Supervise teachers and teaching assistants Perform class observations Conduct annual teacher and assistant teacher evaluations Develop and implement teacher improvement plans as needed Ensure proper coverage when program staff is absent Regularly meet with teaching teams Staff Meetings & Professional Development Lead grade-level staff meetings Develop and lead professional development as needed Curriculum Keep current with state and district curriculum requirements Review and purchase appropriate curriculum materials Track graduation requirements for all districts Instructional Planning Assist the Program Director with scheduling, programming, and credit tracking

Requirements

  • An administrative credential granted by an accredited postsecondary educational institution and at least three years of experience with pupils in special education
  • Experience mentoring teaching candidates in a special education program
  • Proficient in Google Classroom
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of staff members
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Highly organized
