About The Position

Haskell is seeking a Director of Construction - Water/Wastewater to oversee Municipal Water & Wastewater Construction operations at the group level. The role ensures profit, schedule, quality, and safety expectations are met. This position is also responsible for recruiting, hiring, project assignment, termination, and development of construction personnel, including Project Directors of Construction. Key responsibilities include managing litigation, approving group warranty expenditures, insurance waivers, and check signing. The Director participates in establishing construction policy and procedures at the corporate level. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent
  • 10 years or more of experience in Industrial Water/Wastewater facility construction, design, or management preferred
  • Knowledge in the design and construction of Industrial Water/Wastewater facilities
  • Extensive experience in the management of construction operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial operations, estimating, and employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Municipal Water & Wastewater Construction operations at the group level to ensure profit, schedule, quality and safety expectations are met.
  • Recruit, hire, assign projects, terminate, and develop construction personnel, including Project Directors of Construction.
  • Manage litigation, approve group warranty expenditures, insurance waivers, and check signing.
  • Participate in the establishment of construction policy and procedures at the corporate level.
  • Assist Project Director in proposal preparation and new project development.
  • Coordinate design and pre-construction activities and act as client liaison.
  • Participate in design review meetings, lead construction kick-off meetings, and monitor document production.
  • Provide support to Project Manager regarding project schedule, detailed estimate, cost codes, buyout strategy, and purchase control.
  • Review construction drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee owner change orders where potential claim issues exist.
  • Make recommendations for construction techniques, design details, self-perform work, field construction staffing, dispute resolution, subcontractor performance, job site supervision, owner relations, and contractual obligations.
  • Approve adequacy of subcontractor insurance coverage and enforce policy of enrollment in Sub Guard and bonds.
  • Ensure subcontracts and purchase orders are issued in accordance with company policy.
  • Verify accuracy of cost reporting and direct corrective action for cost overruns.
  • Follow up on requisitions, receivables, and collections.
  • Perform periodic project inspections to ensure schedule, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Participate in owner project meetings.
  • Direct timely completion and close-out of projects.
  • Assign resources to warranty responses on completed projects.
  • Oversee training and career development of Project Managers and ensure the successful development of Assistant Project Managers.
