About The Position

The Director of Community Services is responsible for the overall operations, high-quality behavioral health care and case management services to adults who have a diagnosis of mental illness and living in the Schenectady community. In addition, development of designated programs within the Community Services Department to support the individuals we serve and the community.

Requirements

  • New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and database applications; experience with electronic health records preferred.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and manage both short- and long-term responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Valid and insurable New York State driver's license and eligibility to become an approved agency driver.
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle and willingness to use the vehicle for authorized agency business purposes when required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor program performance and maintain regular contact with the programs through supervision of program staff, participation in program meetings, review of program records and individual records, and regular communication with supervisors.
  • Provide consultation and support to program supervisors to address operational, staffing, clinical, and service-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to the Care Coordination program.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a respectful, strength-based, person-centered, and culturally responsive manner. Support individuals served in identifying and addressing their needs, strengths, goals, and opportunities for greater independence.
  • Monitor admission and discharge processes to ensure they are timely, appropriate, person-centered, and consistent with program requirements.
  • Monitor utilization and service capacity and make recommendations regarding program needs and resources.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Community Services to develop, implement, and evaluate new program initiatives and services. Support the continued growth, development, and improvement of Community Services programs.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development and review to ensure programs remain responsive to agency and community needs.
  • Ensure all required program documentation, electronic records, billing, tracking reports, and other reports are completed accurately, professionally, and within established timeframes. Review documentation as necessary to ensure compliance with agency, regulatory, clinical, and funding requirements.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding, supervision, development, and performance evaluation of program staff.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of annual program operating budgets, monitor program expenditures and resources to ensure responsible and effective use of agency funds.
  • Ensure funding related documentation, reports, deliverables, and other requirements are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Represent the agency with service providers, community organizations, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders as required to support the needs and goals of the agency and individuals served.
