About The Position

Lead an exceptional resident experience as our Director of Community Life & Engagement! Oversee resident services, programming, and team development while making a meaningful impact in a premier senior living community. The Director of Community Life and Engagement provides leadership, oversight, management, development, and is responsible for the daily operations for the Residential Living Programming, Residential Living Resident Services, and Administration departments. This position ensures and maintains a professional level of confidentiality in all organizational, employee and resident issues, delivers and provides high quality care with regulatory requirements, budgetary guidelines and policies and procedures established by The Highlands at Wyomissing. This position also serves as a resource to the Board of Directors, the leadership team, residents, all Highlands departments, various outside contacts, including vendors and executives of other corporations. This position must possess the ability to interact with staff at all levels, in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining composed, safe, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, or other related field, or commensurate experience in industry experience including management (Required)
  • 4-5 years’ experience in health, human services or community services field including programs with senior adults (Required)
  • Completion of the Highlands Hearthstone Ambassador training within 30 days of employment (Required)
  • Medical Screening
  • Criminal History Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Only required if you have not lived in PA for the last 2 years)
  • Immigration and naturalization (I-9) Clearance
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and acceptable MVR (if operating company vehicle)
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • DiSC Behavioral Assessment Personality Profile SC, CS, or CD (Preferred)
  • Master’s degree in business or healthcare administration (preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in retirement/Long-Term Care facility (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned strategic initiatives timely and thoroughly.
  • Actively participates in strategic and planning discussion.
  • Creates timely reports on all department activity.
  • Creates monthly, quarterly, and annual action plans.
  • Implement succession plans, expand staff competencies and supports their professional and personal growth.
  • Provides direct supervision of staff and conducts departmental meetings with staff.
  • Participate in and complete all required ongoing training, including monthly online and in-person training, annual skills competencies education, and role-specific certifications, to ensure continued competence and adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
