About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The Director of Communications and Stewardship for Epiphany of Our Lord Parish and St. James the Greater Parish serves as the primary leader for parish communications, engagement, and stewardship initiatives. This position is responsible for promoting the mission, ministries, events, and vision of both parishes while fostering a culture of gratitude, generosity, participation, and evangelization. The Director works closely with parish leadership, staff, and ministry leaders to communicate how parishioners can deepen their relationship with Christ through worship, service, formation, and stewardship.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience with social media, website management, email marketing, and digital communication platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate Catholic teachings and parish initiatives accurately and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Ministry, Theology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, stewardship, nonprofit development, or parish ministry.
  • Experience with graphic design, content management systems, and digital media tools.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship best practices.
  • Experience working within a Catholic parish, diocese, school, or faith-based organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for both parishes.
  • Create, edit, and distribute parish communications, including bulletins, newsletters, email campaigns, social media content, and website updates.
  • Maintain consistent parish branding, messaging, and visual identity while honoring the unique character of each parish community.
  • Coordinate promotional materials and communication plans for parish programs, ministries, sacramental opportunities, fundraising efforts, and special events.
  • Gather and share stories that highlight the impact of parish ministries, volunteers, and parishioners.
  • Manage parish websites and digital communication platforms to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and up to date.
  • Oversee social media strategies that encourage engagement, evangelization, and participation in parish life.
  • Support stewardship initiatives by promoting a culture of gratitude and encouraging participation through time, talent, and treasure.
  • Assist with annual stewardship appeals, special campaigns, planned giving initiatives, and donor recognition efforts.
  • Communicate parish financial priorities, accomplishments, and stewardship opportunities in collaboration with parish leadership.
  • Work closely with the Pastor, Business Manager, staff, and ministry leaders to prioritize and coordinate parish communications.
  • Establish communication schedules, deadlines, and processes to ensure timely and effective messaging.
  • Coordinate photography, video, graphic design, and other visual communication efforts.
  • Support major parish initiatives, events, capital campaigns, evangelization efforts, and emergency communications as needed.
  • Use communication as a tool for evangelization by inviting parishioners and visitors into deeper engagement with Christ and parish life.
