About The Position

Gordon Food Service is seeking a Director of Sales to collaborate with Sales Managers, Regional Managers, and the Broadline Sales Director to achieve commercial sales goals. This position requires significant thought leadership and people leadership, focusing on creating win/win relationships with customers, employees, and vendors. The role involves assuming global accountability for commercial sales, leading a large department, supporting staff development, analyzing performance data, managing budgets, and partnering with other teams within the organization.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of industry experience
  • Previous management experience of teams of 50-75 people
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Experience dealing with ambiguity in an ever-changing market is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assume global accountability for commercial sales through the development, management, and evaluation of process improvement programs
  • Lead a department of more than 75 people, including up to 5 direct reports
  • Support and implement educational plans to develop staff, and guide leaders within the organization around workforce planning, employee engagement, and disciplinary issues
  • Analyze key performance indicators and statistical data to formulate division practices
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the capital and operational budget for the department
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure the best candidates are brought into the team
  • Leverage strong business acumen through partnerships with the warehouse and transportation teams
  • Handle various special projects
