About The Position

The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to serve as its next Director of Collections and Curatorial Affairs (DCCA). This role is a senior institutional leadership position at a world-renowned institution dedicated to the art, history, and science of glass. The DCCA will provide curatorial vision, collections stewardship, and staff development to enhance the museum's excellence in developing, managing, exhibiting, sharing, and preserving its internationally recognized collection, exhibition program, and publications. The position involves setting and supporting best practices and sustainable strategies for the Curatorial, Collections Management, Conservation, and Photography departments. The DCCA will partner with the president and executive director and leadership team to achieve key initiatives and set professional standards. Collaboration with the directors of the Rakow Research Library and The Studio is essential to ensure the synergy of the museum, library, and studio. The DCCA will also work with the advancement department on fundraising for positions, programs, and projects, bringing a future-forward vision that integrates collections and curatorial affairs across the museum and sets ambitious goals to advance the field of glass.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curatorial vision, collections stewardship, and staff development.
  • Build upon the museum’s excellence in developing, managing, exhibiting, sharing and preserving the internationally renowned collection, exhibition program, and sector-leading publications.
  • Set and support best practices and sustainable strategies for the departments within the directorate (Curatorial, Collections Management, Conservation, and Photography).
  • Proactively partner with the president and executive director and leadership team to achieve key initiatives and set professional standards.
  • Work in partnership with the directors of the Rakow Research Library and The Studio to ensure the collaboration of the three main components that comprise CMoG —the museum, the library, and the studio.
  • Work closely with the advancement department on fundraising opportunities in support of positions, programs, and projects.
  • Bring a future-forward vision that integrates the work of collections and curatorial affairs throughout the museum.
  • Set ambitious goals to advance the field of glass in all its intellectual and creative diversity.
  • Lead collaborations with other museums and institutional partners.
