About The Position
The Director of Clinical Operations provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and administrative direction for assigned clinical departments. This role supports efficient daily operations, high-quality patient care, regulatory readiness, financial stewardship, and a positive experience for patients, families, providers, and staff. As a member of the leadership team, the Director partners with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leaders, department managers, and support services to advance hospital goals, strengthen clinical workflows, and promote a culture of accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related healthcare field.
- At least five years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and change management skills.
- Knowledge of hospital operations, healthcare regulations, budgeting, staffing, productivity, and performance improvement.
- Comfort with data analysis, healthcare information systems, and Microsoft Office.

- Rural healthcare leadership experience
- Experience leading operational improvement initiatives
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse license or other applicable healthcare professional license
- Healthcare leadership certification
- Lean Six Sigma

Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned clinical departments and service lines.
- Support department managers.
- Promote teamwork and accountability.
- Monitor access, productivity, quality, and patient experience.
- Partner with medical staff and clinical leaders to improve workflows and outcomes.
- Support regulatory readiness, budget management, staffing plans, resource utilization, service growth, and employee engagement.
