This role offers the opportunity to combine clinical expertise with technology, education, and collaboration to improve documentation practices, coding accuracy, and overall system effectiveness across our communities. The Director of Clinical Informatics serves as a key resource in the areas of clinical documentation, diagnosis coding, compliance, and electronic health record (EHR) optimization. Working closely with clinical and operational leaders, this position helps ensure documentation accurately reflects resident care while supporting quality outcomes, reimbursement, and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 coding principles and clinical documentation standards.
  • Experience working with electronic health record platforms in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to analyze clinical workflows and implement practical system-based solutions.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and promote accurate ICD-10 diagnosis coding throughout the organization.
  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for electronic health record systems and related documentation processes.
  • Review documentation practices, coding procedures, and EHR utilization to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct audits to support compliance, coding accuracy, and quality outcomes.
  • Provide education, training, and individualized coaching to clinical leaders and care teams.
  • Partner with reimbursement, billing, and operations teams to address documentation and coding concerns.
  • Offer guidance related to regulatory requirements, software updates, and industry best practices.
  • Lead efforts focused on workflow improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency.
  • Build collaborative relationships that encourage communication, accountability, and clinical excellence across all communities.
