About The Position

Marana Health is seeking a Director of Clinical Informatics and Applications to join the Information Technology team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Director of Clinical Informatics and Applications is responsible for leading the organization’s clinical informatics strategy, clinical systems optimization initiatives, and enterprise clinical application operations to improve provider efficiency, patient outcomes, operational performance, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role serves as a strategic leader and key liaison between clinical operations, information technology, analytics, quality, revenue cycle, and executive leadership to ensure clinical technologies effectively support organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and patient care delivery. The Director provides strategic oversight for electronic health record (EHR) optimization, clinical workflow redesign, clinical application support, provider adoption, operational standardization, and implementation of emerging healthcare technologies. The Director of Clinical Informatics and Applications lead enterprise initiatives focused on workflow optimization, provider engagement, patient access, revenue integrity, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining governance structures related to clinical applications, change management, workflow standardization, and system adoption across the organization. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Clinical Informatics team and Clinical Applications function, including direct supervision of Clinical Informatics staff and leadership oversight of the Applications Support Manager. This role establishes departmental priorities, optimization of roadmaps, governance structures, operational standards, and long-term strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals and clinical transformation efforts. This position also collaborates closely with operational leadership, medical leadership, nursing leadership, analytics and executive stakeholders to support organizational transformation through clinical technology innovation and process improvement. Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 11 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Health Information Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in healthcare operations, clinical informatics, EHR optimization, clinical applications, healthcare technology leadership, or clinical workflow improvement
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong experience with EHR systems (AthenaOne or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience leading healthcare technology optimization initiatives
  • Experience working directly with physicians, nursing leadership, and clinical staff in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing operational and clinical data and translating insights into workflow improvements
  • Experience managing organizational change initiatives and technology adoption efforts
  • Proficiency with healthcare reporting tools, dashboards, analytics platforms, and operational performance metrics
  • Strong understanding of ambulatory healthcare workflows and healthcare operations
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through AZDPS
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MH)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • Clinical background (e.g., RN, MA, or other licensed clinical role)
  • Experience in an FQHC or ambulatory care environment
  • Experience with AthenaOne optimization, reporting tools, and workflow configuration
  • Certification in Clinical Informatics, Project Management, Change Management, Lean Six Sigma, or related field
  • Experience supporting EHR implementations, healthcare technology transitions, or large-scale operational transformation initiatives
  • Experience leading healthcare governance committees or operational optimization programs
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled healthcare technologies, automation tools, or ambient clinical documentation platforms
  • Experience supporting value-based care initiatives and quality performance improvement efforts
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization’s clinical informatics and clinical applications strategy aligned with organizational goals and operational priorities
  • Establish enterprise standards for clinical workflow optimization, clinical application utilization, and documentation best practices
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding clinical technology initiatives, workflow transformation opportunities, and operational optimization efforts
  • Identify opportunities for automation, workflow redesign, and technology-driven operational improvements
  • Support organizational initiatives related to patient access, provider efficiency, revenue integrity, quality improvement, and operational excellence
  • Analyze clinical workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient outcomes, patient access, provider satisfaction, and operational performance
  • Lead enterprise workflow optimization initiatives and standardization efforts across departments and locations
  • Utilize EHR and reporting tools to monitor provider performance, documentation practices, operational metrics, and workflow adoption trends
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to implement workflow improvements and operational standardization initiatives
  • Lead provider engagement and optimization efforts focused on improving adoption, satisfaction, efficiency, and documentation quality
  • Support onboarding, optimization, and ongoing education initiatives for providers and clinical staff
  • Provide strategic oversight for enterprise clinical applications, EHR optimization, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and system configuration initiatives
  • Provide leadership oversight and strategic direction for enterprise clinical application support services through collaboration with the Applications Support Manager
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, operational leaders, vendors, and the Applications Support Manager to ensure clinical applications effectively support organizational workflows, provider efficiency, patient care delivery, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish prioritization frameworks for clinical application enhancements, optimization initiatives, workflow redesign efforts, and strategic operational improvements
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, technology selection, implementation planning, and system improvement initiatives
  • Ensure clinical applications and associated support processes align with organizational goals, operational standards, cybersecurity requirements, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices
  • Lead or participate in governance committees related to clinical applications, EHR optimization, workflow redesign, and operational change management
  • Establish change management strategies to support technology adoption and workflow transformation initiatives
  • Develop communication, training, and stakeholder engagement plans to support successful implementation and sustained adoption of new technologies and workflows
  • Monitor adoption metrics and operational outcomes following implementations and optimization initiatives
  • Ensure clinical workflows and application usage align with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies
  • Utilize operational, financial, and clinical performance data to identify trends, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to provider adoption, documentation quality, patient access, operational efficiency, and workflow performance
  • Partner with analytics, quality, and operational teams to support organizational performance improvement initiatives
  • Present operational findings, recommendations, and optimization strategies to leadership teams and organizational stakeholders
  • Support data-informed decision-making through analysis, reporting, and workflow evaluation
  • Directly supervise Clinical Informatics Analysts and assigned personnel while providing leadership oversight and strategic guidance to the Applications Support Manager
  • Establish departmental priorities, strategic roadmaps, governance structures, project plans, optimization initiatives, and operational goals for Clinical Informatics and Clinical Applications
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities for assigned staff
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for clinical informatics and clinical application staff
  • Evaluate emerging healthcare technologies, AI-enabled clinical solutions, ambient documentation tools, and automation platforms
  • Support implementation and governance of AI-assisted clinical workflows and operational technologies
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and provider experience through technology innovation
