Director of Clinical Applications
About The Position
Beacon is seeking a Director of Clinical Applications to lead the strategy, implementation, management, and optimization of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) and broader clinical application ecosystem. This role will own EHR implementation and ongoing operations, establish enterprise standards and best practices, and drive consistency across Beacon's growing network of practices. The Director will partner closely with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and technology leaders to ensure our clinical systems support efficient workflows and an excellent provider and patient experience. The ideal candidate brings deep EHR expertise, preferably within behavioral health, along with strong implementation leadership and experience integrating EHR platforms with surrounding healthcare applications.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience with healthcare EHRs and clinical applications.
- Significant hands-on experience with EHR implementation, configuration, administration, and workflow optimization.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale EHR implementations or transformation initiatives.
- Deep understanding of clinical workflows and provider-facing technology.
- Experience establishing EHR standards, governance, and best practices across multi-site healthcare environments.
- Experience with healthcare system integrations and working knowledge of HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare interoperability.
- Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a rapidly growing, multi-site healthcare organization preferred.
- Behavioral health, psychiatry, or mental health EHR experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting acquisitions and integrating newly acquired practices is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, implementation, administration, and optimization of Beacon's EHR and clinical applications.
- Lead EHR implementations, migrations, upgrades, and integration of newly acquired practices.
- Establish enterprise EHR standards, governance, best practices, and a repeatable operating model to drive consistency and optimization across Beacon practices.
- Partner with clinical leaders and providers to optimize workflows, improve usability, and reduce administrative burden.
- Develop standardized approaches for EHR configuration, testing, training, change management, and ongoing support.
- Own functional requirements and strategy for integrations between the EHR and patient engagement, RCM, telehealth, scheduling, AI clinical tools, labs, data platforms, and other applications.
- Establish governance for EHR enhancements, configuration changes, releases, and new capabilities.
- Build strong internal EHR expertise and reduce reliance on external vendors and consultants.
- Build and lead the Clinical Applications function as a center of excellence for EHR expertise, implementation, optimization, and best practices.
- Lead and develop the Clinical Applications team as Beacon continues to grow.
