About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Community Services, this position provides day-to-day operational leadership for the Children and Family Services Program. The Director ensures all activities align with the agency's mission and business strategy, as well as the policies and procedures of the funding institution. This role is directly responsible for developing and effectively executing detailed organizational plans and frameworks, ensuring all business practices are consistent with VOASELA policy. The Director also provides collaborative leadership for program funding to ensure financial viability and sustainability, and focuses on community awareness and education about the program's services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree level in social service field and/or five years’ experience working with youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office, Word, Excel and Access.
  • Willingness to be responsive to the needs of the target population.
  • Ability to function as part of the team.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, organizational development, people management, operations, program and resource development, fiscal accountability, and public relations.
  • Must be a self-initiator, versatile and assume risk with responsibility.
  • Strong strategic vision in areas of business and the programmatic arena with a solid understanding of the human service industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, separating mission critical from the non-strategic.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in using a personal computer are also required.
  • Current driver’s license issued by state of residence.
  • Current Vehicle Inspection decal.
  • Current vehicle insurance.
  • Current vehicle registration in state of residence.
  • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day operational leadership to staff within the designated programs.
  • Prepare detailed budget and financial for designated program.
  • Ensure monthly reviews of financial statements are in order and in budgetary compliance.
  • Lead the effort to educate and inform the community on the services offered by the Children & Family Services program.
  • Ensure program is completed to a consistently high standard, within budget, that objectives are met on time, suiting VOASELA image and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with funding institutions.
  • Establish short and long-term program objectives and ensure team members meet them.
  • Recruit, hire, and train team members.
  • Assign tasks to team members to ensure project objectives are completed as required and communicate expectations to team members.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding program services or staff.
  • Ensure staff and program complies with the mission statement of VOASELA.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff and provide support to staff recognizing their achievements and accomplishments.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with other agencies and communities served in the 16-parish service area of VOASELA.
  • Assist resource development and community impact staff to ensure the effectiveness of grant applications and contractual relationships with government agencies.
  • Enroll and complete annual trainings as required by VOASELA and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform any other tasks and projects as assigned.
