About The Position

This is a part-time, independent contractor position requiring approximately 4.5 hours per week, with a maximum of 316 annual hours. The role involves providing vocal direction and piano/organ accompaniment for two Sunday Mass services, leading congregational singing, soloists, and liturgical music. The Director will also recruit, train, and direct a volunteer parish choir, conduct weekly rehearsals, coordinate music equipment setup/teardown, and maintain continuity binders and copyright reporting.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years leading music in a congregational worship setting.
• Proficient in piano with the ability to sight-read traditional and contemporary Catholic music.
• Official Letter of Good Standing from a pastor verifying status as an active, practicing Catholic.
• Must pass a 5-piece practical audition ("Almost Home", "Christ the Lord is Risen Today", "O How I Love Jesus", "On Eagle's Wings", and candidate's choice prelude/postlude).
• Must pass a Criminal History Background Check & Installation Records Check (DoDI 1402.05).

Responsibilities

• Provide vocal direction and piano/organ accompaniment for two Sunday Mass services.
• Lead congregational singing, soloists, and liturgical music (prelude, interlude, postlude).
• Recruit, train, and direct a volunteer parish choir.
• Conduct at least one 1-hour weekly choir rehearsal.
• Coordinate setup/teardown of chapel music equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain physical/digital continuity binders and track CCLI copyright reporting.
