About The Position

The Director of Catering Sales at The Ben, Autograph Collection, is entrusted with shaping and elevating the hotel’s catering and wedding sales vision, driving both revenue performance and the artful creation of exceptional guest experiences. This role leads the full spectrum of the sales journey—from cultivating meaningful relationships to curating bespoke proposals and guiding seamless execution—ensuring every event reflects the distinctive character, elegance, and intentional design of the property. With a focus on luxury weddings and refined social occasions, the Director will thoughtfully evolve a premier catering program aligned with The Ben’s continued transformation as a sophisticated, experience-driven destination. This includes fostering influential partnerships, establishing a strong presence within the luxury events community, and collaborating closely with culinary leadership—including Michelin-level talent—to create immersive, one-of-a-kind celebrations defined by creativity, precision, and elevated taste. As a leader, this individual will inspire and guide the catering sales team with clarity and purpose, while cultivating strong alignment across departments to ensure each event is executed with grace and intention. Success in this role requires a rare balance of strategic insight, refined sales expertise, and creative vision—paired with an intuitive understanding of luxury hospitality and a genuine passion for crafting unforgettable moments that embody The Ben experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced training or certifications in sales, luxury hospitality, or event management is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive catering sales experience within luxury or upscale hotel environments.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience overseeing catering or event sales teams.
  • Proven track record of driving significant catering revenue, with a strong emphasis on luxury weddings and high-end social events.
  • Experience positioning and selling a property within a competitive luxury market, with established industry relationships preferred.
  • Deep expertise in luxury catering operations, food & beverage trends, and elevated event execution.
  • Strong understanding of the luxury wedding market, including planner networks, client expectations, and high-touch service delivery.
  • Strategic sales mindset with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive catering sales and marketing plans.
  • Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and closing skills, with a polished and professional presence.
  • Established network within the wedding, social, and luxury events community preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing sales team in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with culinary and operations teams to deliver bespoke, high-quality experiences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret reports, forecast revenue, and adjust strategies to maximize performance.
  • Proficiency in hotel sales systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present, pitch, and represent the brand at a luxury level.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally for client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.
  • Ability to be actively present on the floor during events, including standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in alignment with event schedules.

  • Cultivate enduring relationships with discerning clientele, esteemed wedding planners, and influential partners, serving as a trusted advisor in the creation of extraordinary, highly personalized events.
  • Orchestrate the full sales journey with precision and care—from initial inquiry and bespoke site experiences to artfully crafted proposals and contract negotiations—ensuring each interaction reflects a seamless and elevated standard of service.
  • Partner closely with culinary leadership and operations to design immersive, sensorial event experiences, where cuisine, ambiance, and service come together to create moments of lasting impression.
  • Guide the thoughtful planning and flawless execution of each event, ensuring every detail—from spatial composition to timing and aesthetic elements—is delivered with intention, elegance, and precision.
  • Ensure all agreements, event orders, and documentation are executed with meticulous attention to detail, supporting a seamless collaboration across all departments.
  • Anticipate guest needs with intuition and grace, resolving challenges with discretion and professionalism while upholding an unwavering commitment to exceptional service.
  • Interpret performance metrics and market insights with a strategic lens, continuously refining approaches to elevate positioning, drive revenue, and sustain long-term success.
