Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience (long-term care preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario long-term care legislation, inspection processes, and best practices
  • Experience with quality improvement, resident safety, and Accreditation Canada standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and build staff capability
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Leadership, or related field (preferred)
  • Additional training in quality, safety, IPAC, or healthcare leadership
  • RNAO member

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight for nursing and personal care services
  • Ensure care is delivered safely, consistently, and in alignment with resident-centred standards
  • Maintain compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) requirements, and applicable directives
  • Support accreditation readiness and standards, including Accreditation Canada requirements
  • Champion resident- and family-centred care and quality of life initiatives
  • Lead implementation of clinical components of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), ensuring practice-level changes are embedded within nursing and care teams
  • Support Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices and outbreak preparedness
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor nursing leadership and frontline staff; support performance and professional practice expectations
  • Promote effective interdisciplinary practice with medical staff and other departments to support care planning and resident outcomes
  • Contribute to operational planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives to support sustainable service delivery
