About The Position

The position Director of Campus Ministry requires a highly motivated individual with a mission-oriented mentality and the ability to cultivate and build strong relationships. The Director of Campus Ministry should have good leadership and management skills and meaningful experience. The Director of Campus Ministry works with student organizations, especially the leadership of those organizations, to facilitate their effectiveness in coordinating activities and events according to the mission of SPCSC. The Director of Campus Ministry has an integral role and strong presence in facilitating community life at SPCSC. The Director of Campus Ministry reports to the Rector and works in close partnership with the Office Manager, other staff, students, and volunteers of SPCSC. The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Peter Catholic Student Center which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at St. Peter Catholic Student Center help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the Catholic Faith, Church Teaching, and Catholic Theology
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude in developing rapport with diverse groups
  • Capacity to adeptly facilitate philosophical and theological inquiry and dialogue
  • Knowledge of social media tools
  • Ability to handle flexible hours, including working some weekends and evenings.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Able to multi-task in high stress situations
  • Disposition of a servant leader
  • Action oriented work ethic and ability to foster team work
  • Strong attention to detail and critical analysis
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of SPCSC and ability to articulate its mission.
  • Computer skills (Internet applications, Microsoft Office, word processing).
  • Any candidate must be able to support the mission of St. Peter Catholic Student Center (SPCSC).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country.
  • Three (3) years of related full time wage earning experience.
  • English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing)
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Peter Catholic Student Center in both your professional and personal life.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
  • Be an effective, cooperative, and strong member of the SPCSC staff
  • Assist in scheduling, organizing, hosting and advertising ministry activities, including retreats, service activities, mission trips, and educational/catechetical opportunities.
  • Assist in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for the successful execution of the abovementioned activities
  • Assist the Rector in identifying pastoral needs and proposing creative ways to meet said needs
  • Assist in scheduling, organizing, hosting, and advertising speaker events.
  • Assist in ordering and distributing printed literature including pamphlets, books, and other resources.
  • Maintain a healthy relationship with Baylor University administration, faculty, and staff; cooperate with Baylor University Campus Ministry in seeking prudent and fruitful opportunities to reach students through the university.
  • Work and coordinate closely with FOCUS missionaries
  • Coordinate with the Development Office and Communications Coordinator to facilitate communication of activities and events to SPCSC supporters, parents, and benefactors over social media and periodic newsletters.
  • Maintain a healthy presence at student ministry activities.
  • Foster relationships with permanent parishioner community and parents
  • Collaborate with the Center Coordinator in planning and preparing center activities including meals, socials, and banquets.
  • Assist volunteer student leaders in their spiritual and human growth through mentorship
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Rector to include special projects to assist in overall fundraising efforts.
