About The Position

Planetary Technologies’ vision is to protect and restore the ocean and climate for generations to come. We do this by enhancing the ocean’s natural ability to fight climate change through carbon dioxide removal and storage. Our team combines expertise in ocean science, metallurgy and geochemistry to safely and effectively scale up ocean-based CO2 management solutions. Working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders, we develop a cost effective and sustainable set of tools aimed at protecting and restoring our oceans and climate, ultimately doing carbon dioxide removal and storage at gigatonne scale. Planetary is seeking a Director of Business Development to take ownership of Origination, Partner & Client Management.

Requirements

  • Hold 5+ years in business development, partnerships, strategy, or related roles
  • Have experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder relationships, with a proven track record of closing deals
  • Have successfully participated in the RFP cycle from drafting through submission and managing post-award claims
  • Have experience with supply chain strategy, infrastructure, or industrial partnerships
  • You are an excellent technology communicator, with the ability to adapt content and style to the intended audience
  • You are curious about climate change technologies and passion about protecting our world for future generations
  • You are based in Canada
  • Candidates based in Ottawa will be prioritized

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GHG accounting will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of relationships and partnerships with suppliers and outfalls, working closely with Planetary’s VP Projects in order to originate new projects.
  • Ensure that Planetary has sufficient supply of alkalinity to hit targets, while holding an understanding of life cycle impacts of supply decisions, by managing relationships with strategic suppliers
  • Maintain strong relationships with our existing and future commercial, and industrial outfall partners through a predictable pattern of clear communication
  • Bridge business development and marketing by driving lead generation, informing go-to-market strategy, and supporting future marketing campaign execution to accelerate revenue growth
  • This includes sourcing, vetting and completing RFPs and guiding opportunities through the final stages of the sales cycle, ensuring timely and professional contract execution
  • Explore and evaluate business opportunities emerging within the ecosystem to encourage innovation in our supply chain
