About The Position

The Director of Beyond the Cliff Network Engagement will support Martha O’Bryan Center and Beyond the Cliff’s efforts to remove barriers to economic opportunity for families that receive public assistance. The role is responsible for supporting the Beyond the Cliff network through project and stakeholder management, communication coordination, and facilitation. Additionally, the Director will serve as a subject matter expert on benefits cliff-related policy and programmatic solutions, supporting the development of learning and advocacy resources, providing technical assistance, and representing Martha O’Bryan Center and the Beyond the Cliff network to policymakers and other external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy or related field from an accredited college or university OR four years of relevant experience in public policy, facilitation, and/or project and stakeholder management.
  • Understanding of the public benefits system, including, but not limited to, Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, housing subsidy, and childcare assistance programs.
  • Experience nurturing positive relationships, building partnerships, and cultivating trust.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in related field or six years of relevant experience in public policy, facilitation, and/or project and stakeholder management.
  • Significant experience in public policy particularly focusing on the public benefits system.
  • Experience facilitating large, virtual meetings.
  • Ability to synthesize technical policy into audience‑friendly content.
  • Skill in document formatting and graphic design.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a large, diverse national network of partners, ensuring timely and effective flow of information across the network and facilitating connections between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support planning and facilitation of annual in-person convening, bimonthly coalition meetings, and regular workgroup meetings (about three to four per month).
  • Maintain internal collaboration tools including Basecamp, providing timely updates to partners and ensuring resources are current and easily accessible.
  • Ensure contact lists, Basecamp access, and calendar invitations are current as partner representatives change.
  • Provide project management support to ensure timely completion of key deliverables including evidence and learning resources and advocacy materials.
  • Demonstrate federal public benefits policy expertise related to benefits cliffs and their solutions that promote family economic opportunity.
  • Maintain expertise on benefits cliff and economic mobility pilots, interventions, and policy changes happening across state and local governments, nonprofits, and the private sector.
  • Compile findings and lessons learned into persuasive talking points, marketing materials, and learning resources.
  • Create briefs, case studies, and other resources that highlight issues and solutions related to the benefits cliff.
  • Support resource sharing and delivery of technical assistance to external partners.
  • Lead development of newsletters and other external communications.
  • Monitor and document federal and state policy and programmatic efforts to address benefits cliffs, providing timely updates to coalition members.
  • Maintain state and federal benefits cliff bill and administrative action trackers.
  • Represent Martha O’Bryan Center and Beyond the Cliff with external audiences including federal, state, and local policymakers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
