About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and administration of enterprise-wide employee benefits programs within a healthcare environment. This role will oversee health & welfare, retirement plans, compliance, and vendor management, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
10+ years of benefits management experience in a healthcare organization (mandatory)
Proven experience managing health & welfare and retirement programs (401k, 403b, pension)
Strong knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, and DOL regulations
Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms
Demonstrated experience managing vendors, brokers, and external partners
Strong leadership experience managing and developing teams

Nice To Haves

CEBS, CBP, or other HR/benefits certifications
Experience in large healthcare systems or multi-entity organizations
Experience with wellness program design and implementation

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage comprehensive benefits programs (health & welfare, retirement, wellness)
Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and healthcare reform regulations
Oversee retirement plans including 401(k), 403(b), and non-qualified plans
Manage relationships with brokers, consultants, actuaries, and third-party administrators
Lead and develop a team of benefits professionals
Partner with HR leadership to align benefits strategy with Total Rewards and business objectives
Oversee benefits administration systems (HRIS) and drive system enhancements
Manage open enrollment, plan renewals, and employee communications
Monitor benefits costs, budgets, and ROI metrics
Lead audit readiness and regulatory reporting
Act as escalation point for complex benefits issues and compliance matters
