About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and administration of enterprise-wide employee benefits programs within a healthcare environment. This role will oversee health & welfare, retirement plans, compliance, and vendor management, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of benefits management experience in a healthcare organization (mandatory)
  • Proven experience managing health & welfare and retirement programs (401k, 403b, pension)
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, and DOL regulations
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendors, brokers, and external partners
  • Strong leadership experience managing and developing teams

Nice To Haves

  • CEBS, CBP, or other HR/benefits certifications
  • Experience in large healthcare systems or multi-entity organizations
  • Experience with wellness program design and implementation

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive benefits programs (health & welfare, retirement, wellness)
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and healthcare reform regulations
  • Oversee retirement plans including 401(k), 403(b), and non-qualified plans
  • Manage relationships with brokers, consultants, actuaries, and third-party administrators
  • Lead and develop a team of benefits professionals
  • Partner with HR leadership to align benefits strategy with Total Rewards and business objectives
  • Oversee benefits administration systems (HRIS) and drive system enhancements
  • Manage open enrollment, plan renewals, and employee communications
  • Monitor benefits costs, budgets, and ROI metrics
  • Lead audit readiness and regulatory reporting
  • Act as escalation point for complex benefits issues and compliance matters
