About The Position

The Director of Architecture and Engineering is a senior leader and manager within Glenmede’s technology team. The Director leads a team of technologists, including managers, individual contributors, and third-party resources, responsible for foundational technology used across all lines of business and by employees. First-year priorities include envisioning a modernization roadmap for the CRM and internal transaction/workflow platform, designing the data foundation needed for the firm’s artificial intelligence capabilities, and enabling data strategy and governance. The role oversees target-state architecture and technical roadmaps for Salesforce, Gresham Opus EDM, the internally built transaction and workflow platform, and supporting data, middleware, and document storage services. It also partners with colleagues responsible for vendor strategy, application management, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to maintain a cost-effective, risk-controlled technology ecosystem. The Director creates structured engineering delivery accountability, including capacity planning, delivery commitments, and reporting metrics. The role leads assessment and modernization planning for the internal transaction and workflow platform; designs the data foundation for AI, including evaluating an enterprise document repository, data lakehouse, and other options; and compares commercial products with custom development using total cost of ownership. In partnership with technology, security, product, and business leaders, the Director establishes data strategy and governance, maintains authoritative definitions and data lineage, and delivers reporting and dashboards that enable business users to manage assigned data domains. The role also evaluates team career paths and organizational structure, develops a talent strategy, and expands documentation and cross-training so expertise is shared and employees can grow into new responsibilities.
