About The Position

Colorado School of Mines is seeking a Director of Admissions Communications and Marketing to provide strategic direction for recruitment efforts. This role involves improving admission operations processes and strategizing communication and marketing for graduate and undergraduate, domestic and international student recruitment. The Director will oversee CRM communications flow, develop and execute communication and marketing initiatives, and analyze results to enhance the university's image and support strategic enrollment goals. This position is a key member of the admissions leadership team and requires collaboration with campus constituents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a communications and/or marketing role.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, collaboration, and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional and technical writing.
  • Excellent command of the English language and grammar, including proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong understanding of effective communication, marketing principles, branding, and strategic planning.
  • Proficient in social media management, content creation, and data analysis.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative communication/marketing campaigns and solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure and optimize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with keen attention to details.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, analytic tools, and marketing software.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher Education admissions communications and marketing experience.
  • Experience working at a selective/STEM institution.
  • Experience with writing for print and web-published outlets in AP Style writing.
  • Experience in design programs (Adobe InDesign or Photoshop).

  • Proficiency with Slate CRM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, implement, and assess admissions communication strategies to increase visibility of graduate and undergraduate offerings.
  • Develop targeted, high-quality communications for prospective graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Collaborate with cross-campus partners to create compelling content for various formats, including electronic, website, and print.
  • Create cohesive messaging plans for specific programs in alignment with strategic enrollment goals and the university's Strategic Plan.
  • Update and enhance the CRM communications plan, including frequency, timing, and messaging.
  • Provide oversight of branding and continuity for departmental publications.
  • Lead the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across social media, email, content marketing, events, and traditional media.
  • Manage the admissions website, ensuring content accuracy and timely updates.
  • Develop and oversee the admissions social media strategy and activities.
  • Purchase and manage the distribution of marketing swag to maximize ROI.
  • Stay current with marketing trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing and communications team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Hire, train, supervise, encourage professional development, and evaluate full-time professional staff members.
  • Manage and supervise assistant directors and the marketing coordinator.
  • Manage the admissions marketing and communications budget, including planning, administration, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Support a data-driven decision environment by collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating data metrics and analytics.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of the communication plan, marketing metrics, and KPIs.
  • Create marketing and communication reports for leadership on goals and progress.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, develop professional contacts, attend professional development engagements, and deliver presentations.
  • Develop, document, and implement a program of professional training for admissions and recruitment staff.
  • Manage external vendor relationships to ensure consistent branding and messaging and evaluate ROI.
  • Oversee marketing-related contracts and make recommendations on new vendors and technologies.
  • Manage the annual cycle prep process with the team and campus partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet program and university objectives.
