About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and scale our accounting operations within a fast-growing community association management (HOA/condo) organization. This role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, AP/AR functions, client accounting, and revenue operations, while managing and developing a high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership, process improvement, and financial oversight experience, and thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience managing accounting teams (5–10+ direct reports preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience overseeing AP/AR, billing, and collections processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, CINC, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to drive accountability, performance, and process improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with financial software and reporting tools; proficiency in Excel is a must!
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building relationships across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, inspire others, and drive accountability.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to think critically and strategically to solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Experience in HOA, property management, real estate, or community association accounting
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting department (AP, AR, and client accounting), ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and accountability
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage a portfolio of large client accounts, ensuring accurate reporting, billing, and financial performance
  • Supervise and develop a team of 7+ accounting professionals, including performance management and coaching
  • Ensure timely and accurate client billing, collections, and revenue recognition processes
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership to align financial performance with business goals
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and scalability initiatives
  • Support audits, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
