About The Position

We are seeking a strategic leader for the Director of Accounting & Finance / Corporate Controller role to oversee the company’s financial management and lead the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Finance department at Velocity Electronics. This Director will collaborate cross-functionally to plan, implement, manage, and control all finance-related activities of the company, while providing strategic leadership across the organization. The role is responsible for directing and overseeing the Finance & Accounting functions, with full accountability for accounting operations, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, treasury, tax, audit, and inventory control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; active CPA license required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
  • Expert knowledge of GAAP and federal, state, operational accounting functions, and local financial laws and regulations.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems and related automation tools.
  • Proficiency in intercompany accounting structures and processes.
  • Proven ability to streamline, optimize, and improve financial processes.
  • Strong capability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts and methodologies.
  • Understanding of inventory accounting processes and related principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead general accounting activities in accordance with US GAAP, including oversight of day-to-day operations, consolidation and preparation of financial statements, analysis of financial results, and development and implementation of accounting policies.
  • Lead key operational accounting functions, including credit, collections, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • Collaborate across functions and regions to drive alignment and support achievement of company objectives.
  • Manage financial statement audits and ensure full compliance with tax requirements.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure the effectiveness of technology tools that support the Accounting and Finance functions.
  • Actively manage cash position and cash forecasting to ensure efficient and value-accretive use of company and investor cash.
  • Advise senior management on the financial implications of business and regulatory activities and provide recommendations to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor managers and staff to build a high-performing finance organization.
  • Lead the development and ongoing evaluation of short- and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Manage financial forecasting and budgeting processes to support business planning and decision-making.
