This position supervises accounting staff and oversees all corporate bank accounts, including fund transfers, check requests, and check signing. The role involves assisting in budget preparation, reviewing payroll registers and related worksheets, and supervising the preparation of W-2s and 1099s. Key responsibilities include coordinating purchasing, inventory, and payment systems, preparing personal property tax documents, and managing cash flow worksheets. The Controller monitors and analyzes indirect costs, prepares the Indirect Cost Proposal, and, in conjunction with the CFO, supervises and maintains the corporation’s internal control systems. This role requires staying updated on fiscal regulations for federal, state, and local programs and preparing required reports. The Controller will also evaluate and recommend updates to accounting software systems, review pension investment status, and coordinate annual corporate audits. Additional duties include reviewing working trial balances, grant/contract activity reports, preparing adjusting journal entries, managing corporate funds with the CFO, utilizing computer systems for departmental tasks, attending corporate meetings, and participating in relevant training sessions.
