About The Position

Dignity Health, Mercy Hospital of Folsom is seeking a Director of Nursing Perioperative Services. This role is responsible for Surgical Services including Main OR, Pre-Op, PACU, GI, and SPD. The hospital has 4 main operating rooms with a robust surgical services program supporting many specialties, and recently became a Center of Excellence for Robotics. The Director will direct operations, work with Sr. Leadership on key initiatives, and collaborate with front-line leaders to ensure high standards of patient care. This role involves advising medical staff, other department heads, and administrators on patient care, clinical best practices, and strategies. The Director will communicate organizational goals to staff, focusing on improving patient experience and delivering exceptional quality care. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a track record of success overseeing Perioperative services for an acute-care hospital, possessing strategic thinking skills and experience in service line growth and development. A commitment to social justice, health equity, and innovative care delivery is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (e.g. BSN) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing or other-related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • Registered Nursing License (RN) in CA required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Surgical Services including Main OR, Pre-Op, PACU, GI, and SPD.
  • Direct the operations of the Perioperative Services department.
  • Work with Sr. Leadership on key initiatives.
  • Work with the Nurse Manager Periop, Supervisor Pre-Op/PACU, Supervisor SPD, and other front-line leaders to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Advise medical staff, other department heads, and administrators in matters related to patient care, clinical best practices, and strategies.
  • Communicate the organization’s goals to the staff.
  • Improve patient experience and deliver exceptional quality care.
