About The Position

FOX Entertainment is hiring a Director, Media Systems Engineering & Support to lead engineering and technical support teams responsible for the reliability, automation, and workflow tooling that keep Entertainment’s systems running and modern. The team maintains shared infrastructure according to Enterprise Technology standards while owning Entertainment-specific creative media pipelines. This is both a strategic role—setting long-term technology plans and supporting facility operations—and an operational role accountable for daily reliability. The Director manages and prioritizes specialized engineers, develops team capabilities and ownership, and works across the organization to deliver outcomes through influence. The role requires a balance of executive-level strategy and hands-on technical judgment, including using AI and agentic workflows to modernize work and extend the capacity of a lean team. Regular on-site attendance for at least four days per week is an essential function. The position owns the roadmap, architecture, reliability, maintenance, and evolution of on-premises infrastructure and post-production systems, including storage, render and virtualization, editorial, finishing, graphics, and facility technology. It also oversees media transfer platforms, support and issue resolution, infrastructure and capital projects, delivery standards, and coordination with TechOps leadership and Enterprise Technology to reduce duplicated infrastructure and maintain clear ownership.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years leading post-production engineering and/or technical support teams, including technical program leadership.
  • Experience owning technology roadmaps and delivering capital or infrastructure projects on plan.
  • Hands-on experience developing AI or agentic workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and prioritizing specialized technical staff.
  • Strong hands-on experience with the modern post-production stack, including high-performance shared storage, MAM and render-farm management, pipeline tooling, and remote-workstation or virtualization systems.
  • Working knowledge of finishing, mastering, and high-speed media transfers such as Aspera or Signiant.
  • Knowledge of emerging media technologies and standards, including HDR, audio and color standards such as Dolby Vision/Atmos, HDR10+, and ACES; IMF mastering; broadcast standards; virtualization; accessibility; cloud workflows; and industry bodies such as SMPTE, FCC, MovieLabs, TPN, and ATSC.
  • Deep working knowledge of network and media systems, media transfer pipelines, and post-production and VFX infrastructure, including storage, render and virtualization, editorial, finishing, graphics, and facility technology.
  • Fluency with post-production editing and graphics systems.
  • People-leadership ability, including developing talent, intentional delegation, prioritization, and direct performance management.
  • Judgment to move between strategy and detailed execution and to allocate limited specialized capacity effectively.
  • Ability to determine when to follow enterprise standards and when Entertainment-specific systems require bespoke ownership, while reducing duplication.
  • Sufficient hands-on technical depth to direct engineers, evaluate approaches, and guide an efficient team footprint; the role is not a build-it-yourself position.
  • Ability to drive outcomes through influence, align senior stakeholders, and frame trade-offs across teams outside direct reporting lines.
  • Clear, calm communication, including bringing forward problems and decisions and surfacing issues before they become crises.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, including relevant certifications.
  • Experience working with union or collectively bargained labor.
  • Experience planning or executing a facility move or major build.
  • Structured program leadership at scale, such as PMP or equivalent.
  • Facility infrastructure experience in a vendor, studio, or network broadcast environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and prioritize engineering support teams responsible for Entertainment’s owned post-production environments.
  • Define team roles, ownership, and remit, enabling independent operation and appropriate escalation.
  • Direct specialized technical staff toward work where they add the most value.
  • Own the long-term architecture and technology roadmap for owned systems and platforms, and develop executive-level narratives explaining decisions and trade-offs.
  • Align technology plans with FOX Entertainment’s broader technology vision.
  • Plan facility moves and the technology operations that follow.
  • Own daily reliability and maintenance of on-premises infrastructure and post-production systems, including storage, render and virtualization, editorial, finishing, graphics, and facility technology.
  • Maintain shared enterprise tools in accordance with Enterprise Technology standards and transition ownership where possible to avoid parallel infrastructure.
  • Own the reliability and evolution of Entertainment-specific creative media pipelines and bespoke post-production workflows.
  • Apply site-reliability practices, including monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure consistent support and issue resolution in partnership with support desk teams.
  • Maintain media transfer platforms and remove operational roadblocks for day-to-day teams.
  • Deliver capital and infrastructure projects against plan, defining risks and RACI ownership and surfacing blockers or delays early.
  • Establish workflows, documentation, and standards that make delivery repeatable and resilient, with clear outcome-driven goals.
  • Use AI and agentic workflows to automate and modernize work and focus team effort where it has the greatest impact.
  • Partner with TechOps leadership, Enterprise Technology, and other organizational teams to reduce duplicated infrastructure and maintain clear ownership.
