About The Position

The Director, Media Portfolio Strategy serves as the strategic leader responsible for portfolio-level media strategy, performance oversight, and measurement connectivity across Brand Marketing and Best Buy Ads. This role provides a holistic view of media investments and performance, ensuring decisions are aligned to business priorities and informed by insights from across the organization. Working with leaders across media, analytics, measurement, insights, and senior business stakeholders, this leader drives alignment, establishes planning and performance frameworks, and translates insights into recommendations that strengthen decision-making and business outcomes across the media portfolio. This role is remote eligible, which means you will work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. However, you must be located within a commutable distance to the Chicago metro area. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in media strategy, marketing strategy, retail media, analytics, measurement, insights, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working across media strategy, media effectiveness, measurement, or insights functions.
  • 5+ years of experience leveraging media measurement and effectiveness approaches, including marketing mix modeling, attribution, incrementality testing, and performance measurement frameworks, to inform business and investment decisions.
  • Experience developing strategic plans, business reviews, or portfolio-level recommendations that balance short-term performance with long-term business objectives.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and drive alignment across multiple teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience influencing planning, investment, or business decisions through data-driven recommendations and executive-level communication.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting strategic recommendations and performance insights to senior leaders.

  • Experience within a retail media network, retailer, agency, or consumer-focused marketing organization.
  • Experience supporting annual planning, portfolio planning, or media investment decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the holistic media portfolio strategy across Brand Marketing, Best Buy Ads, and Marketplace ensuring investment decisions are informed by enterprise priorities, portfolio performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and partner with media, measurement, analytics and insights teams to create and operationalize a connected approach to media measurement, ensuring insights are translated into actionable planning, optimization, and investment decisions.
  • Establish and operationalize a portfolio-level view of media investments and performance, identifying trends, opportunities, risks, and efficiencies across the media portfolio to inform planning and investment decisions.
  • Build and lead the Media Portfolio Center of Excellence, establishing strategy and planning frameworks, best practices, and processes that improve consistency, effectiveness, and decision-making across the organization.
  • Strategically advise media and marketing leadership, developing recommendations that inform investment prioritization, portfolio optimization, and long-term media strategy.
  • Lead media investment and performance scenario planning for business reviews, planning cycles, and leadership discussions, synthesizing inputs from multiple teams into clear insights, recommendations, and actions.
  • Partner with marketing, category, finance, and decision science teams to shape media forecasts that anticipate customer demand across the retail sales calendar.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team while extending the team's influence across a broader cross-functional community, and building the capabilities that raise the quality of media investment decisions enterprise-wide.
