About The Position

The Director, Marketplace Planning runs the operating system for Marketplace. This leader ensures strategic priorities translate into coordinated execution, clear ownership, transparent progress, and predictable delivery across Marketplace Verticals (Air, Hotel, Ground), Marketplace Value, Platform & Delivery, and Engineering. This role is accountable for execution discipline, governance, prioritization frameworks, and delivery transparency — enabling Marketplace to operate as one coordinated system rather than independent functional teams. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strong strategic judgment, operational rigor, executive presence, and the ability to influence across senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in product operations, strategic planning, program leadership, or chief of staff roles within complex, cross-functional organizations
  • Proven ability to design and scale operating models in matrixed environments
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority
  • Exceptional structured thinking and prioritization skills
  • Experience driving roadmap governance across product and engineering organizations
  • Data-driven mindset with comfort operating at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and create clarity in complex systems

Responsibilities

  • Own the Marketplace Operating System: Design and run the Marketplace operating cadence (QBRs, product reviews, roadmap syncs, 180-day planning). Establish and maintain governance frameworks for prioritization, intake, and decision-making. Ensure every initiative has clear ownership, defined success metrics, and aligned sequencing. Maintain decision logs and accountability mechanisms across teams.
  • Drive Roadmap Integrity & Delivery Oversight: Maintain a consolidated Marketplace roadmap across Verticals, Value, Platform, and Engineering. Track progress against 180-day commitments and surface risks early. Facilitate tradeoff discussions and escalation forums when priorities conflict. Ensure cross-team dependency clarity and delivery alignment.
  • Lead Initiative Intake & Prioritization Discipline: Own intake for new ideas, issues, executive asks, and cross-functional requests. Facilitate prioritization tradeoffs with Marketplace leadership. Prevent scope creep and initiative sprawl through structured frameworks.
  • Enable Strategic Transparency & Communication: Develop and drive internal Marketplace communications strategy. Provide consistent executive reporting on roadmap progress and delivery health. Support senior leadership decision-making with clear data and tradeoff framing.
  • Build Operational Infrastructure: Establish performance dashboards and KPI tracking discipline. Drive operational tooling and reporting hygiene across Marketplace. Continuously improve planning, forecasting, and execution frameworks.
