About The Position

The Innovative CPA Group is seeking a Director / Manager of Tax Controversy to join its CPA firm. The position is based in Shelton, Bethel, or Hamden, Connecticut, with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience for Manager level or at least 8 years for Director level.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax procedures.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• CPA, JD, or EA credential preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax controversy engagements, including audits, notices, appeals, and collections matters.
• Represent clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities.
• Research tax issues and develop resolution strategies.
• Communicate with clients and taxing authorities about case status and outcomes.
• Review and supervise staff work, providing guidance and mentorship.
• Assist with practice development and maintain client relationships.
• Stay current on tax law and regulatory changes.
