DaVita Kidney Care•Denver, CO
•$115,000 - $183,000•Hybrid

About The Position

DaVita is seeking a Director of Learning Technology to own and evolve the learning technology ecosystem serving more than 70,000 teammates. Within Wisdom, DaVita’s enterprise learning organization, the Learning Technology function manages learning platforms, architecture, integrations, and an expanding ecosystem of experience, workflow, and AI-enabled technologies. This is a transformational leadership role focused on envisioning the future of the ecosystem and charting the path to achieve it—not simply administering platforms or managing vendors. The Director will be accountable for learning technology architecture, platform strategy, and implementation direction. The role defines multi-year platform and integration strategies, makes consequential technical and commercial decisions, directs complex enterprise implementations, and advises senior leaders. It also leads and develops learning technology product and program managers, builds team capability, and ensures system reliability, security, compliance, and continuity. The position is remote or Denver hybrid, with Denver preferred; Denver-based teammates are expected in the downtown office Tuesday through Thursday. Travel is required 10–20%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in learning technology, enterprise HR/talent technology, or adjacent enterprise platform leadership.
  • Direct ownership of platform architecture and integration decisions.
  • Specific knowledge of integration patterns and APIs, identity and access architecture, HRIS-to-learning data flows, reporting and data warehouse strategy, and tradeoffs between single-platform and best-of-breed ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in AI enablement and use of large language models.
  • Demonstrated ownership of consequential technology decisions, including serving as accountable decision-maker in vendor negotiations, architecture reviews, and scope disputes.
  • Ability to make decisions under time pressure and with imperfect information.
  • Ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively, maintain strategic direction under pressure, operate autonomously, and earn trust.
  • Experience creating a multi-year technology strategy and inspiring others to execute it, including building, coaching, and developing technical teams.
  • Willingness to travel 10–20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field, such as technology management or adult learning.
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated, distributed-workforce environment.
  • Experience leading platform migrations or consolidations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cornerstone On Demand (CSOD), ServiceNow, or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Denver, Colorado location; Denver-based teammates are preferred to work in the downtown office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Own learning technology architecture, platform strategy, and implementation direction, making and defending technical and strategic decisions.
  • Define the multi-year learning technology strategy and architecture, including platform evolution and consolidation, integration patterns, identity and data flows, governance, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Establish intake and prioritization practices for technologies entering the learning ecosystem.
  • Translate business priorities and clinical and operational workflows into teammate-centered technology solutions in partnership with product and technology teams.
  • Lead the product management team responsible for operationalizing the learning technology roadmap, including emerging AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Act as decision authority in vendor and implementation-partner engagements; evaluate technical approaches and their downstream cost and timeline implications, negotiate scope, and make delivery decisions.
  • Own commercial relationships, statements of work, and total cost of ownership across the learning technology portfolio.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional technology programs from design through adoption with enterprise Technology, People Services, operations, and external partners.
  • Maintain focus on teammate experience while managing scope and sequencing through sprint-based delivery.
  • Establish objective adoption, engagement, and value-realization metrics to measure technology investment impact.
  • Lead, coach, and develop learning technology product and program managers; build team capability, bench strength, and continuity across business-critical platforms.
  • Partner with operational support functions to ensure learning systems’ reliability, security posture, compliance, and continuity, and problem-solve when issues occur.
  • Advise VP- and C-level sponsors with candid assessments of risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations, and coordinate across stakeholders to deliver work.
