About The Position

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, the Director, Learning & Development is a hands-on role responsible for developing a comprehensive learning strategy that includes designing and delivering programs to build leadership capability, strengthen organizational bench strength, and support long-term workforce development at BioFire Defense. This bonus-eligible role will lead initiatives including leadership development, high-potential talent programs, succession planning, career pathing, internal mobility, and manager capability building. The position partners closely with HR leadership and business leaders to ensure the organization develops the skills, leadership pipeline, and workforce capabilities needed to achieve strategic business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Instructional Design, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise learning or talent development.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, building alignment across senior leaders and functions to drive enterprise-wide learning priorities, standards and adoption.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing highly effective management and leadership development program

Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive needs analyses in partnership with business leaders and HR to identify critical skill gaps and architect high-impact learning solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and evolve the organization’s learning strategy in alignment with business objectives and long-term workforce development.
  • Manage the end-to-end implementation and delivery of training programs, from scheduling to facilitation.
  • Collaborate with department heads and internal champions to foster a culture of continuous improvement while also generating actionable insights through the analysis of engagement, progress, and outcomes.
  • Lead internal communications about learning initiatives, highlighting employee achievements, and promoting upcoming development opportunities.
  • Design and deliver leadership development programs, including an Executive and Emerging Leader program, that strengthen leadership capability across the organization.
  • Assess manager skill gaps and create a comprehensive management training program focused on coaching and development, performance management, delegation, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Partner with leaders to support the development of high-performing teams and strong leadership practices.
  • Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning processes to build leadership bench strength for critical roles.
  • Create targeted development plans and leadership experiences for emerging leaders.
  • Develop and implement career path frameworks that support employee growth across functional and leadership tracks.
  • Create programs that encourage internal mobility and career development opportunities.
  • Design and oversee mentorship program supporting employee growth and leadership development.
  • Align development programs with training, coaching, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Design, lead, and continuously improve the onboarding program to ensure consistent, effective, and positive employee experience from candidate engagement through early employment.
  • Leverage adult learning theory and modern instructional design to produce engaging, learner-centered materials that drive retention and behavior change.
  • Establish a data-driven evaluation framework to measure the ROI and effectiveness of learning initiatives.
  • Lead enterprise-wide learning initiatives, including the “Sharpen Your Skills” series and “Lunch-and-Learns,” to foster professional development across the organization.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
