The Director, Laboratory is responsible for supporting the execution of company strategy across business segments to optimize experience and results. This role involves establishing and maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring staff compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, and overseeing the proper use of safety equipment. The Director will hold individuals accountable for non-compliance and ensure the completion of staff competencies, including mandatory education. This position also requires prompt investigation and resolution of significant occurrence and incident reports, practicing and encouraging staff readiness in compliance with agency regulations, and improving HCAP scores according to fiscal year targets. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating continuous improvement in service to internal and external customers and responding to client service recovery issues effectively. The Director will provide opportunities for staff input into the decision-making process, seek input before making decisions, and utilize LEAN tools to streamline work processes, eliminate waste, and improve productivity. This includes leading at least one process improvement initiative for the department annually and participating in at least one LEAN project outside the department per year. The role also involves actively supporting and participating in succession planning initiatives, identifying high potentials, and preparing them for future leadership opportunities. Financial acumen is crucial, requiring consideration of the financial impact of decisions, use of financial concepts for decision making, monitoring financial performance, and developing and managing the department budget at or below expectations, consistent with adjusted volume variations. This position requires 75% domestic travel.
