About The Position

The Director of Endpoint Engineering provides strategic, architectural, and engineering leadership for their respective domain including network, telecommunications, compute platforms, storage, data center, and endpoint technologies across the healthcare enterprise. This role is responsible for the planning, design, engineering, and implementation of resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions that support clinical operations, patient care, and business functions. As a key member of the infrastructure leadership team, the Director partners closely with peer engineering directors overseeing other infrastructure domains as well as the Director of Infrastructure Operations who manages run state services. Together, these leaders ensure a cohesive lifecycle approach from architecture and design through deployment, transition to operations, and ongoing optimization. This is a hybrid position in Columbus, OH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration/Management
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent experience with IT service management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of technologies necessary to support clinical operations and information systems along with the ability to gather, analyze and interpret business drivers to support the department and organization.
  • Highly skilled at strategic planning, contract vendor negotiations, financial planning, and management of highly technical associates and resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with proven leadership.
  • 10+ years progressive management responsibilities within Information Management field.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Healthcare, Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred.
  • Extremely self-motivated with the ability to drive resources toward deadlines and manage ambiguity to effectively solve problems by embracing the health system's highly dynamic, constantly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and contractual compliance is beneficial.
  • Experience leading large, complex projects across multiple functional departments.
  • Experience in a complex healthcare organization is beneficial.
  • The ability to explain complex technical ideas and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, including managers, advisors, network architects, engineers, specialists.
  • Build a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure workforce planning, skill development, and succession strategies are in place.
  • Develop and maintain the strategic roadmap for your respective technology domain.
  • Lead the design and engineering of solutions that meet enterprise requirements for performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure architectural consistency and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Oversee engineering teams responsible for your respective technology domain.
  • Lead the design, build, and deployment of new infrastructure solutions, upgrades, and major technology refreshes.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables include documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational readiness materials.
  • Partner with the Director of Infrastructure Operations to ensure smooth handoff into run‑state support.
  • Oversee the engineering project portfolio for initiatives in your area.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership for large‑scale infrastructure modernization efforts.
  • Develop and manage capital and project budgets for design/build initiatives.
  • Evaluate and select technology solutions, vendors, and partners.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance for engineering‑related services and products.
  • Work closely with peer design/build directors to ensure integrated infrastructure solutions across network, telecom, platforms, data center, and endpoint technologies.
  • Collaborate with clinical, business, and application teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Partner with Information Security to ensure secure architectures and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Establish engineering standards, design patterns, and best practices for network and telecom technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and internal security policies.
  • Participate in risk assessments, architectural reviews, and technology governance processes.
  • As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
