Director, Indirect Procurement

Solidigm•Rancho Cordova, CA

About The Position

Solidigm is seeking a supply chain business expert to lead indirect procurement operations and a distributed procurement team. The role is responsible for effective and efficient procurement that supports cost, availability, quality, and sustainability objectives. It plans and implements timely, cost-effective procurement, supply and demand, and inventory-control activities, and coordinates global procurement efforts alongside selected sourcing activities. The Director owns the indirect procurement operating model, including purchase-request intake, requisition-to-order execution, procurement policies and controls, procurement systems and data, supplier onboarding, and coordination with Finance on budgets and close activities. The role also leads strategic sourcing across a broad indirect portfolio, developing multi-year category strategies, running competitive sourcing events, negotiating and managing contracts, delivering Finance-validated savings, and managing strategic supplier relationships and commercial risks. The position leads and develops procurement staff, sets category and initiative ownership, develops team capabilities and succession, and shapes employee and contingent-worker resourcing. As a senior procurement partner to business and functional leaders, the Director represents procurement in executive forums and governance reviews and works with Legal, Finance, IT, Information Security, HR, and Environmental, Health and Safety to incorporate policy, risk, and control requirements into sourcing.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in ESG/sustainability, supply chain risk management, corporate responsibility, or a closely related field.
  • Experience building programs, rather than only operating established programs.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading teams.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a large indirect-spend portfolio, with measurable savings and cost-avoidance results validated by Finance.
  • Deep command of operational procurement processes and controls, as well as strategic category management and competitive sourcing.
  • Strong commercial and contracting judgment, including negotiating master agreements, statements of work, and software and services terms with Legal.
  • Fluency with procurement and ERP systems, spend analytics, and the data discipline needed to report spend and savings credibly.
  • Executive presence and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders who do not report to the role.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or a master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CPSD, or CIPS.
  • Experience in semiconductor, high-technology manufacturing, or another capital-intensive industry with demanding supplier qualification standards.
  • Experience establishing or maturing a procurement organization, including new policies, systems, or operating models.
  • Experience coordinating global procurement efforts while also owning selected sourcing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day purchasing operations for indirect spend, including request intake and triage, requisition-to-purchase-order execution, sourcing waivers, catalogs and preferred suppliers, and resolution of invoice, receipt, and three-way-match exceptions.
  • Set and manage cycle-time, quality, and compliance targets for requisition-to-order processes and regularly report performance to business partners and finance leadership.
  • Govern indirect procurement policies, approval hierarchies, delegation of authority, competitive-bid and single-source justification rules, and controls that limit off-contract and maverick spending.
  • Own procurement systems and transaction data, including catalogs, supplier master data, category taxonomy, and spend reporting.
  • Manage supplier onboarding and qualification, including due diligence, risk screening, tax and banking validation, and supplier-information maintenance.
  • Partner with Finance on budget alignment, purchase-order accruals, and procurement data needed for month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Develop and own multi-year category strategies based on spend analytics, market intelligence, demand forecasts, and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead competitive sourcing events from market scans and RFIs through RFPs, bid analysis, should-cost modeling, negotiation, award, and executive decision readouts.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with Legal, including master services agreements, statements of work, software and subscription terms, rate cards, rebates, volume tiers, and renewal and termination rights.
  • Maintain a renewal calendar to ensure contract renewals and auto-renewals are reviewed.
  • Own the annual indirect-spend savings plan, set category targets, maintain an initiative pipeline, and validate savings and cost avoidance with Finance.
  • Manage supplier relationships through segmentation, scorecards, quarterly business reviews, improvement plans, and joint innovation or productivity commitments.
  • Manage commercial and supply risks, including supplier concentration, financial health, cybersecurity and data protection, business continuity, regulatory and trade compliance, and responsible sourcing.
  • Lead and develop a distributed team of directors, strategic sourcing leads, and contingent specialists; set ownership, coach capabilities, manage performance and succession, and develop team capacity.
  • Shape the resourcing model across employees and contingent workers and make the case for investment when capacity constrains value delivery.
  • Engage business-unit and functional leaders early in planning to influence demand and specifications, and represent indirect procurement in executive forums and governance reviews.
  • Present category strategies and savings performance to senior leadership and chair reviews addressing sourcing decisions, exceptions, and supplier escalations.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, IT, Information Security, HR, and Environmental, Health and Safety to incorporate policy, risk, and control requirements into sourcing.

Benefits

  • Restricted stock unit (RSU), restricted cash unit (RCU), and cash bonus program eligibility.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Supplemental life and AD&D insurance.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts.
  • Company match on eligible 401(k) plan contributions.
