About The Position

The Director of Imaging Services oversees departmental operations, staffing, budgeting, equipment, and regulatory compliance to ensure efficient, high-quality diagnostic imaging services. The role provides strategic leadership to improve clinical quality, patient safety, operational performance, and patient satisfaction while supporting staff development and organizational goals. This position is 100% on-site at Raleigh General Hospital and is scheduled full time on days.

The Director develops departmental goals and standards aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices; directs imaging operations and technology management; leads staffing and professional development; manages the department budget and resources; and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and radiation safety requirements. The role also monitors performance and quality indicators, advances patient-centered care, builds collaborative relationships across the hospital and with external stakeholders, and supports service improvement and departmental growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, imaging safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams while fostering accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
• Proven financial and operational management skills, including budgeting, resource allocation, staffing, and performance monitoring.
• Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to exercise sound independent judgment and manage complex situations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, hospital leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in healthcare information systems and computer applications, including the ability to evaluate performance metrics, oversee imaging technology, and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant leadership or management experience in imaging services, radiology, or healthcare operations preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental goals, strategies, and standards aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Direct daily imaging operations, oversee equipment maintenance and technology upgrades, and optimize workflows.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, staffing, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets; allocate resources and keep operations within approved budget limits.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, radiation safety requirements, and organizational policies; coordinate audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote evidence-based practices, maintain imaging quality standards, and advance safe, patient-centered care.
• Monitor departmental performance metrics, productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality indicators; identify opportunities to improve access, efficiency, capacity, and growth.
• Build partnerships with physicians, clinical leaders, hospital departments, and external stakeholders; address patient concerns and resolve service issues.
