About The Position

The Director, Human Resources is responsible for leading the Human Resources function for 1-800-Flowers manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, and support functions across the Ohio, Georgia, and Florida facilities. This role partners closely with Operations, Plant and Distribution leadership, Safety, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and brand HR teams to support a high-volume hourly and salaried workforce. Responsibilities include associate relations, workforce planning, compliance, succession planning, performance management, organizational design, coaching and development, leadership training, and implementation of consistent HR processes that enable safe, productive, and engaged operations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant HR business partner or HR leadership experience supporting high-volume manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain operations.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and manage HR professionals across multiple sites.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, wage and hour, workplace accommodations, investigations, corrective action, and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting hourly workforces, multi-shift operations, seasonal staffing, temporary labor, attendance management, and frontline leadership development.
  • Proven ability to partner with operations leaders in fast-paced, metrics-driven environments while balancing associate advocacy, business needs, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate, detailed results.
  • Strong self-starter with initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to lead work through completion with measurable results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills; comfortable influencing leaders and associates at all levels in a matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in a manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or fulfillment environment may be considered.
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise, eTime, Workforce Manager, HRIS, ATS, timekeeping, workforce management, and reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of HR Business Partners supporting manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, and warehouse operations; build capability in associate relations, coaching, compliance, and operational HR fundamentals.
  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to facility leaders, Operations, Production, Distribution, Safety, Quality, Maintenance, and Transportation/Logistics teams to align people strategies with business priorities.
  • Manage associate relations concerns for hourly and salaried associates, including investigations, corrective actions, attendance, performance, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation, while promoting fair and consistent practices and reducing business risk.
  • Support labor planning and workforce readiness for peak, seasonal, and promotional volume periods, partnering with Talent Acquisition and Operations on staffing plans, onboarding, retention, shift alignment, and contingent or temporary labor needs.
  • Champion associate engagement and retention initiatives in production, warehouse, and distribution environments, using feedback, data, and frontline leadership coaching to improve the associate experience.
  • Guide managers through talent reviews, succession planning, promotions, compensation recommendations, and development planning for operations leaders and critical roles.
  • Lead the performance management process, including supporting the StandOut tool and linking performance outcomes to succession and 9-box planning, development actions, and accountability.
  • Partner with Safety and Operations to reinforce a safety-first culture, support compliance training, and ensure HR practices align with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Support implementation and adoption of HR technologies, timekeeping, workforce management, reporting, and self-service tools; use data and analytics to identify trends in turnover, attendance, overtime, staffing, and associate relations.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Payroll, Learning and Development, Legal, and brand HR teams to ensure consistent, scalable HR practices across 1-800-Flowers locations.
  • Support organizational design and change management initiatives related to facility growth, process improvements, automation, new operating models, and cross-brand integration.
  • Travel to and work with multiple stakeholders across assigned locations; perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
